My 5100 won't take thick paper in the duplexer. I finally sold the duplexer, as 
I needed to duplex thin paper so seldom, it wasn't worth it. The printer is a 
real tank, like the ancient LaserJet 4 I still have.

However, manual duplexing is a snap. Print "Odd pages only" through the manual 
feed, then flip the bundle over, feed it in again head-first and print "Even 
pages only."

It has booklet issues, too, but I've found a workaround. I think all printers, 
once you get far past the usual letter printing, get a little wonky.
