>Still, the concept that I can make an admittedly stupid error in one >place, and not catch it for some time because the effect is another >place entirely, makes me queasy.
you are still talking too vaguely so i can't really say anything either way about this. what exactly did you do in one place that affected something in another place? in regards to auto-spacing, if that is the "culprit", that is actually how it is supposed to work and you are simply not using it properly for your needs. the key onces for me are: - do corrections / revisions once in 2 doc instead of twice in 2 docs - select measure(s) and cycle through PTs or toggle between SC/PT with selected region always appearing on screen - design consistency (i never have to replicate pref changes or artic/expression definitions in a 2nd doc) in some cases, the more effective and complex a particular feature is, the more specialized the user has to be to fully take advantage of it. i have learned to use some tools in some stages of work and to use them differently -- or even to avoid using them -- in others, and don't see anything wrong with this. i would never use 80-grit sandpaper to buff a varnished table. >I have no doubt that one can, with enough workarounds and tiptoeing >about, make linked parts work. there is of course shit that does not work as it should (and has not worked properly for 6 versions now since linked parts were implemented), but i have simply learned to work differently, not around, and many problems are resolved for me. you know i won't praise linked parts and am well aware of its faults, but i honestly have the impression that what you need to do is sit down and carefully reconsider your workflow and making finale's features work better for you... _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
