Yes, this is definitely broken in F2014. I had the parenthesis problem as well in the Windows version. I have always found that particular plug-in really goofy. It seems to me that in 99.999999999% of the cases, what is needed is to show accidentals a measure or two after a key change to help the musician get started in the new key. I absolutely never use cautionary accidentals in any other case because they make music HARDER to read, not easier. (If I used multiple voices on a staff, I'd want to use cautionary accidentals when an accidental in one voice is carried into the other voice.) For those of us with imperfect eyesight, we cannot always see the accidental clearly. If I can see that there is an accidental, then I can make a quick judgment about whether it is most likely a flat, sharp, or natural and be right almost all the time. People who add unnecessary accidental markings without parenthesizing them should be shot, IMHO. And people who pencil in unnecessary accidentals BESIDE notes in the music should also be shot. If one needs a reminder about a note, write the accidental ABOVE the note, with a parenthesis and there will never be any confusion. IMHO, the only time an accidental should be penciled BESIDE a note is when correcting a misprint. My problem with the 2014 plug-in is that it applied parentheses to real accidentals, not the cautionary accidentals it added. _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
