In the Aria player, can't you just put in another instance of the same instrument in a different channel? I've done this kind of thing often. If you need to switch back and forth in one instrument, you can put in an invisible expression to switch channels. If you want this on two separate staves, you should be able to control the panning in the mixer. Or am I not understanding your issue?
