hey some of you work in orchestras, maybe someone knows what is with this idea of demanding the composer to have the parts ready for a date which happens to coincide with the start of the orchestra's vacation time?
the deadline for delivery of materials for a contract i am going to be working on in july just had its deadline moved ahead 2 weeks from what was agreed to and signed in the composer's contract. this is not the first time i have seen such deadlines. is it that the librarians don't go on vacation and prepare the parts for the musicians who are on vacation? i can't see any justification for this request, and as we know, few composers have any real power to stand up to the orchestral monster. the original deadline was 15 august for an early october performance. now they are demanding to have the parts before their vacation period starts, whcih would mean materials lying on someone's desk as of 31 july. yeah. -- NEW RELEASE!!! neueweise -- fonts for new music and traditional notation http://newmusicnotation.com/fonts shirling & neueweise | http://newmusicnotation.com new music notation + translation + arts management [FB] http://facebook.com/neueweise | [TW] http://twitter.com/neueweise _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: [email protected]
