I've, as David H. Bailey (and probably someone else), have purchased the 1.0 
version. It'll certainly demand some learning although what attracted me where 
(1.) the workflow concept (2.), the fact that it was redesigned from scratch 
and (3.) that most of the Sibelius' London team are involved in the project.
A demo version would certainly help, as the possibility of running the software 
on two computers without having to move around with the Steinberg's License key.
