That's one thing about Dorico which I've yet to be able to wrap my head around -- admittedly I haven't spent the amount of time I should in order to come to terms with the new workflow paradigm that Dorico has embraced. I remember buying Sibelius at version 2.1, back when I was a diehard Finale user, and finding Sibelius difficult to wrap my head around until verison 5 when I finally admitted to myself that I was simply being a fool and trying to use Sibelius as if it were some new version of Finale, which of course it's not. Once I admitted that and approached Sibelius as if I were brand new to computer notation software and started with very tiny baby steps and gradually increased the size and complexity of my projects, I became very fluent in using it to where it's my first choice for new projects. I just have to make the time to do the same with Dorico -- I can see it has a lot of promise, especially for very large projects. I just need to sit down with the manual and the program and spend a lot of time starting from the very beginning. And especially practice leaving my Sibelius and Finale experience behind and not try to think of Dorico as modified versions of either program. -- David H.
