OK, this is probably a real clueless newbie question, but...
when I start X windows, my windows have no borders at all,
except for a very thin black line. I can't move the windows, or
do any of the other stuff you'd normally
be able to do with them. All I can do is type commands and do mouse
clicks within the white contents of the window.

Does this mean my window manager is hosed? Here's
the end of my .xinitrc, which is a fresh, unmodified copy
from /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc:

   twm &
   xclock -geometry 50x50-1+1 &
   xterm -geometry 80x50+494+51 &
   xterm -geometry 80x20+494-0 &
   exec xterm -geometry 80x66+0+0 -name login

So shouldn't it be running the twm window manager?
