I had too much time on my hands, was having some problems with gnome,
and wanted to have my installation of xfree86 coordinated with fink, so
I decided to remove /sw and the old x installation and reinstall from
scratch. Now, though, I have the same problems and additionally ...

1) No icons show up in the menus of panel-real.

2) Some of the items in the gnumeric toolbars have no icons on their
buttons (you can tell the buttons are there because the descriptions
come up when you hover and you can use the buttons for their intended
purposes).

3) Most of the games don't work:
        a) gnome-mines, gtali, and gnome-xbill (great game!) do work;
        b) gnobots2 and sol (Aisle Riot) start up and then immediately crash;
        c) gataxx. glines, gnibbles, gnotravex, gnotski, iagno, and
mahjongg all start up but only with an all black screen that stays all
black (green for mahjongg);
        d) gnome-stones, gnometris, and same-gnome just beep at me and
display a dialog box saying that an error occurred while trying to load
an image file;
        e) freecell looks like it does nothing if launched from the menu;
from the command line it yields a bunch of error messages about not
finding libpixbufloader-png.so (there is /sw/lib/gdk-
pixbuf/loaders/libpixbufloader-png.la but no .so on my disk).

There are also problems with the control panel, but the kids are killing
each other, so I'll get this message posted as is.
