Hi Siegmund - thanks for your reply.

I tried what you suggested to no avail.  I also added "exec sawfish" to my
.xinitrc with no other result.  Then I rebuilt sawfish; again - nothing.

Gnome control center says that Sawfish is my "current" window manager.  Any
other suggestions?
