I think either the second or third message tells you how

If you must remove it, there is a perl script to do so:

/Developer/Tools/uninstall-devtools.pl

thanks.

but it appears exactly as you listed:
gcc2

any more ideas? i need them badly.

p.s. [to Zorro] it's my job to do this and I certainly expected a simply
install of Fink -that, I got- then the same for xfree86-rootless, which
did
install without a hitch... but where's the icon (i take there is
suppossed
to be one for XDarwin)?

p.p.s. I have not experienced this with any previous Fink>xfree86
install.
what should i do?

i'm sorry, apparently some or all of my mail coming from this list is

i left Fink installing xfree86 Friday night on a professors machine
and now
it's Sunday and i have the following problem:

the machine is a brand new G4 PB with those "April" Dev Tools
installed,
here are the posts i sent, again reply straight to me please until i
can
straighten out whatever problem is happening:
--------
If you used April dev tools you better start praying.
hey now...i use the april dev tools. as long as you use gcc2, and not
gcc3, everything will be fine...

[chris@dale:~$]> ls -al /usr/bin/gcc
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 4 Apr 28 20:44 /usr/bin/gcc ->
gcc2

if that says gcc is a link to gcc2, the compiler is probably not the
problem. if it says gcc3,
just do "gcc_select 2" and that will set gcc2 up.
