Recently my MacOS 10.1.5 applications (Explorer, Mozilla, Eudora, even
TextEdit) die repeatedly with an error including (in Console) the
following lines

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000

or

Command: TextEdit
PID: 540

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xb4000064

(full crash.logs from Console available).

Short time ago even the 'absolutely stable' Unix died: All programs were killed
and the system restarted (like after a Restart).

What is going on?

I installed/compiled recently some Unix programs from fink
(emacs,python,tetex_bundle, wmaker) may be from the unstable part. This would be my
first guess for the culprit.

Could I infer something from the logs? How to proceed? Where to look for information?
