It would help if you said what "that ftp site" is. There are several versions of the libungif package out there, and before being able to help you, one would need to know which one you are trying to install. On my system, for example, which is up-to-date with the latest package descriptions from fink's cvs server, I have 3 versions of libungif-*.info, all 3 will try to download the libungif-*.tar.gz from different places, because there are known problems with the original ftp server for libungif, but none of these correspond to what you are describing: Either the file is not called "libungif-4.1.0.tar.gz" but "libungif-4.1.0b1.tar.gz", or the source is not an ftp site, but an http site. In any case, there is http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/libs/graphics/libungif-4.1.0.tar.gz which exists, and if you put it into the /sw/src/ directory, and *if* your package requires "libungif-4.1.0.tar.gz" with this precise name, then it will find it there and not try to download it again. > I can find that > file from another site, but the FINK installer still tries to download > it and I have to cancel it. If the file name is correct and you put it into /sw/src, the fink installer will recognize it and not try to download it. Only very old versions of fink from a year ago had a bug in this area.
