Any idea what happened here? I'm quite sure I initially installed xfree from Fink: ThanksYou have the non-threaded versions installed and are switching to the threaded versions now. Apparently dpkg doesn't understand that it has to remove the old packages first. Since you understand it ;-), you have to help dpkg by removing them manually:
sudo dpkg --remove --force-depends xfree86-base-shlibs
and maybe some more of these if it doesn't work immediately. Then you just repeat your "fink install xfree86-rootless-threaded" command you used before. It will not recompile the packages, just unpack and install.
