I have another problem. I have tried to install pari-gp.
The installation failed, but I cannot get rid of it
and I get the following message when using install or configure:
After passing through a similar nightmare, I decided never to install any of the fink emacs packages any more (as opposed to xemacs which works well). This emacsen-common business is too complicated to work correctly.

Removing pari-gp ...
/sw/var/lib/dpkg/info/pari-gp.prerm: no such file or directory: /sw/lib/emacsen-common/emacs-package-remove [6]
dpkg: error processing pari-gp (--remove):
subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
/sw/var/lib/dpkg/info/pari-gp.postinst: no such file or directory: /sw/lib/emacsen-common/emacs-package-install [6]
 dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   pari-gp
   E: Sub-process /sw/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Some errors occurred while unpacking. I'm going to configure the
packages that were installed. This may result in duplicate errors
or errors caused by missing dependencies. This is OK, only the errors
above this message are important. Please fix them and run [I]nstall again

What should I do to leave this dead-end?
I don't remember exactly how I got out of it, maybe by supplying fictitious files /sw/lib/emacsen-common/emacs-package-remove and *-install:

sudo touch /sw/lib/emacsen-common/emacs-package-remove
sudo touch /sw/lib/emacsen-common/emacs-package-install

or something similar.
