Have you checked the /sw/var/mysql directory, it's probably still there since dpkg dies in the post-installation phase. My guess (and yours too IIRC) is that it's a permissions issue -- the whole dir should be owned by mysql/mysql. Try creating the directories manually and see if that works.chown: /sw/var/mysql/mysql: No such file or directory chown: /sw/var/mysql/test: No such file or directory dpkg: error processing mysql (--install): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: mysql ### execution of dpkg failed, exit code 1 Failed: can't install package mysql-3.23.53-1
