I believe for some reason the file was not being saved correctly. I hand edited the file (tschrc )and so far so good.
On a side note, I am trying without ANY success to get moveabletype to work with perlmagick. I tried doing an apt-get install but it cannot fing perlmagick. There really is not any good documentation on how to load the module in OSX or or that matter install it. I wonder if such documentation exists or if anyone has installed it on OSX.
