This is true for installing packages from source as long as your info/patch files on the home machine call on the same source file (i.e. make sure to "selfupdate-cvs" both). Then you can just do "fink install" to install them If you're downloading binaries, then you can install them, too. You may need to modify /sw/etc/sources.list . Check out "man sources.list". > > Paul > > > On Wednesday, Dec 18, 2002, at 02:47 America/Santiago, J Reid wrote: > > > Hi all, > > > > I wanted to know whether it is possible to use fink to install > > packages that have been downloaded independently of Fink. > > I prefer to download stuff at work because of the speed, and then > > bring it home on ZIP. > > If someone could let me know if this is possible and how to do it > > because I am not very good at manually installling packages. > > Fink and XDarwin are up and running comfortably on my OSX10.1.5 G4. > > Cheers for any help > > Jon > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > > This sf.net email is sponsored by: > > With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility Learn to use your power > > at OSDN's High Performance Computing Channel > > http://hpc.devchannel.org/ > > _______________________________________________ > > Fink-beginners mailing list > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-beginners > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by: > With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility > Learn to use your power at OSDN's High Performance Computing Channel > http://hpc.devchannel.org/ > _______________________________________________ > Fink-beginners mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-beginners > -- Alexander K.
