IMO, yes, no, yes, no. To be more verbose: Once in a while I have a problem getting Fink to download a certain package. This is probably because a) that ftp server is busy at the moment, b) it's due to one of the many details I'm ignorant of, or c) an install script has a mistake in it. Mistakes get corrected quickly. X11 probably does crash once in a while, but not that I recall. There are groups of stable apps (the "stable tree") and groups of unstable ones. Check it out on the Fink website. The most serious problem I have with OS X 10.2.3 is Apple's design. I desperately want to get rid of this horrible file management dialog. I want my OS 9 file management dialog! But otherwise I like working in OS X. I will say that Gnome and Fink appear to be slow on my blue & white 400 and 300. Other than that, my main problems are ignorance of UNIX stuff, the ongoing need to know a little UNIX stuff to use these packages, and, well, limited time to learn it. So you should be aware at the start that you'll get stumped by some basic problems like how to find a resource file that you need to modify.
