[Fink-beginners] kde no system fonts

I'm still having problems with KDE. It runs fine but there is no text, in filenames, pop up help, menu's everything. Did open a word ap, I think kword and it had the font selector menu and listed fonts but when I type nothing is visible. I think the keyboard is working because I typed a URL into a konqueror dialog and I ended up wit hthe url on my desktop. Help. I have read the FAQ's and KDE FAQ's. When I start X11 I: "kill quartz-wm & startkde".
