I believe Oroborus was a snake that ate itself starting at its tail, though I can't imagine what happen once it got to its head.

OroborOSX is a windows manager that will work with X11. It is designed to run with XFree86 4.2.1.1 but I think Adrian is working hard to get a version compatible with Apple's X11.
