I tried to after reading the explanations at:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/x11/run-xfree86.php
They give us an example with gnome. I tried to modify .xinitrc (after
copying it from anotherdirectory:
cp /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc ~/.xinitrc
and making it executable with chmod a+w .xinitrc )
The example given in the explanation ends with
exec gnome-session
I tried:
exec icewm
It did not work, but anyway, I noted that at the end of .xinitrc , you
can read:
# start some nice programs
twm &
xclock -geometry 50x50-1+1 &
xterm -geometry 80x50+494+51 &
xterm -geometry 80x20+494-0 &
exec xterm -geometry 80x66+0+0 -name login
The xclock exists, the xterm program exists as well...
but xterm can't start at all! And xclock starts for some seconds, then
the whole X server crashes!
