And you did remove it? You shouldn't have.
This is impossible, too. If you didn't remove your X11, fink will *not* have installed xfree86-base.Then Fink or I installed something like xfree86-base, etc.
You are not telling the whole story.

From what you are telling, it is hard to know what you actually did and in what condition your system is now. What does "fink list -i xfree" give?Any help gratefully received,
