Hi all,

You have a .tcshrc, which is getting read instead of .cshrc . There is
a FAQ for this:

As tcsh is the default shell in MacOS X, many fink beginners (including myself some months ago) are faced with this issue.
Therefore the instructions to edit the .tcshrc rather than create a .cshrc should be included in the installation instructions at http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/bundled/usage.php and http://fink.sourceforge.net/download/index.php.

I've just seen also that the installation instructions on the "Fink-installation-First time" page at http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/bundled/install-first.php are rather complex, dealing with compiling Fink from source and Developper tools being needed, and not mentionning the ready-to-use binary package. There should be a link to http://fink.sourceforge.net/download/index.php at the top of the page for users who don't want to install Fink from source (and I guess most beginners don't).

If one of the Fink Help pages maintainer is reading this, could you please update the above pages?
Or can anybody either forward the above suggestions to the people who maintain the Fink Documentation?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Hervé
