David: Thanks. Yes, I was doing a fink update-all. I quit X11 users.

so ... what did you do to get the output you posted? was it a "fink update-all" or were you intentionally installing srollkeeper - or another package?
To try to fix your problem, try typing:
fink install scrollkeeper
at the command line. If that works, then try repeating what you were doing when you got the problem in the first place.
if it doesn't work, post more details and the output you got when installing scrollkeeper again.
Cheers, David.

I'm new, so please don't bite my head off if I'm off topic or in the
wrong group. Just refer me on please. Question: Is this telling me
it is installed , partially installed , how do I check?

fink fetch scrollkeeper
this will overwrite the old file in your /sw/src directory. You might need to tell fink that you want to download it again (so choose option 1). Then repeat the fink install scrollkeeper command and see if that works better this time.

(1) Delete it and download again (2) Assume it is a partial download and try to continue (3) Don't download, use existing file
