Thanks Martin.

I didn't give up too early, at least according to my definition of too early;
I tried many many combinations of mirrors and retry options, but
just printed out the final try.

I just now changed fink.conf so that ProxyPassiveFTP is true, and it still
couldn't find ftp://ftp.rpmfind.net/linux/gnome.org/sources/libxml2/2.5/libxml2- 2.5.4.tar.bz2.
I almost gave up but tried a different mirror and it is now downloading
ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/X11/GNOME/sources/libxml2/2.5/libxml2- 2.5.4.tar.bz2

This is all still a little odd since I changed the ProxyPassiveFTP to false on purpose
when I initially had trouble getting libxml2-2.5.4.bz2.

But if it works this time I'll stop complaining. :)
I'll post back with the results of this attempt.

Thanks,
Chris

Then I did an update-all with the following results, which is
why I got interrupted in the first place, because it can't seem
to find libxml2-2.5.4.tar.bz2 anywhere.

Hmm. []
curl -f -L -P - -O ftp://ftp.rpmfind.net/linux/gnome.org/sources/libxml2/2.5/libxml2- 2.5.4.tar.bz2
curl: (9) Couldn't cd to linux/gnome.org/sources/libxml2/2.5

This mirror seems broken or incomplete, indeed. []
curl -f -L -P - -O ftp://ftp.dit.upm.es/pub/GNOME/sources/libxml2/2.5/libxml2- 2.5.4.tar.bz2
curl: (19) Server does not grok EPRT

I just downloaded this file without problem. Maybe you should activate passive mode ftp in your /sw/etc/fink.conf?

ProxyPassiveFTP: true

[]
(1) Give up
(2) Retry the same mirror
(3) Retry another mirror from your continent
(4) Retry another mirror
How do you want to proceed? [3] 1

And maybe you gave up too early?
