I believe that XonX doesn't do a 4.3 version, but the official XFree86
version (or Fink's repackaging of it) is what you'd want. The upgrade is
for 4.2.x, so you don't need that if you want to run 4.3.0 (the XonX website
looks a bit out of date).

You'll need to turn on unstable, then install the "xfree86" package (for 4.3
there are no "=base" and "-rootless" packages anymore). If you are
currently using Fink's xfree86-base and xfree86-rootless, then you can do
this automatically by installing the "xfree86-upgrade" package, and running
"update-xfree86" from the command line.

If you are using system-xfree86 and some other XFree86 distribution, it's a
bit more cumbersome. Follow the instructions in the FAQ, section 5.2:

http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/comp-packages.php#cant-install-xfree

For step 2 of those instructions, since you're running Fink Commander, you
can use Source-> Force Remove on system-xfree86

And in step 4, install "xfree86" instead of "xfree86-base" and
"xfree8=rootless".

Also, don't worry about step 5: it's out of date now.

 Thanks for the info. So, using commanders unstable tree, I can undate my
current 1.1 with the XonX 4.3? Do I need to upgrade to 4.2 and 4.2.1 (as
specified in the XonX instructions)?
