Originally I did do the rebuild, it didn't work and then tried the
reinstall.  I tried your suggestion but it didn't work; it said it couldn't
download gnome-games and then provided similar error messages as before.  At
the end it said to run apt-get install, so I did and then tried: sudo
apt-get install --reinstall gnome-games again and it still didn't work.

I appreciate you helping me with this.  I really don't have a clue what to
do as I am a "newbie".
