If you already have Fink installed, then you shouldn't be using the Installer.

Otherwise, something else created the directory. Check and see if there's anything in it with the Finder

If you installed Virex 7.2, then you should update to Virex 7.2.1--7.2 stuck some libraries in /sw, and 7.2.1 moves them to a better location.

If there's nothing in this directory that you care about, you should flush it by running

rm -rf /sw

in a terminal window.  After that you should be good to go.
