I want to install xfree86 with thread support so I can watch SVCDs in Xine,
but is 'fink install xfree86' the only way to do this? Is it possible to
install from binary with 'apt-get install xfree86'? My machine isn't that
fast so it takes ages to compile anything. I've copied the files from the
unstable to local dists but apt-get doesn't seem to work.
I also have Apple's X11 installed. Is it necessary to uninstall this to
install xfree86, and if so how?
Thanks,
Neil
