Take a look in the archives of this list. A few months ago I tried to answer this question. If you don't find it, I will try to find it here on my machine. But in short. Apple's X11 has some special addings by apple and looks more like Aqua because of the quarz-wm windowmanager but it has for me and my german keyboard more problems with foreign keyboard layouts then Xfree86's one and it doesn't support thread libraries which you normally donnot notice until you need it. Second it is not totally free since quarz-wm only comes with Panther so does the final 1.0 but this is avaible via source code but without quarz-wm and with alternative windowmanagers it looks quite like the Xfree86 one. Xfree86's one is totally free and behaves the same as on other plattform, there are not that much apple specific things in it and so more tips and tricks which work under other unix-like OSes work. Only missing thing on the mac is a configuration file like you have it on say linux. HTH Eric Hoch -- ## Ansprechpartner Anwenderuntersttzung, users-Mailingliste ## War unsere Hilfe erfolgreich?
