Seems I didn't get through. I'll try again: libgck is part of the gimp package, more precisely of one of its splitoffs, the gimp-shlibs package (see "dpkg -S libgck".) It gets built together with the rest of gimp. Some other parts of the gimp package (like the two plug-ins that don't work) use it when they are compiled and when they are run.
Now it seems that when these plug-ins are compiled, they see not the newly-built libgck that sits somewhere in the build directory, but the already installed libgck in /sw/lib that is there from a previous version of gimp-shlibs.
Then when they are run, they look for their libgck version that they saw when they were compiled, but they don't find it any more, because in the meantime the old gimp-shlibs version has been replaced by the new one, and the version number of libgck has increased.
This problem goes away if you rebuild the same version of gimp that is already installed (got it this time?)
This should not happen, of course, and the package should be fixed, but this is not always easy to do.

So I did a: fink rebuild gimp.
And now gimp starts with no error messages. Which is GOOD!
What is not good is that I don't get help any more. CLick on the help button and select "Help" Nothing happens.
Don't have enough horsepower to test all the complex stuff yet, but I'll try.
