I think it was Ben Reed, but it wasn't this library--this is in /usr/X11R6, so I'd think it would be from the X11 User package. Ben was talking about /usr/lib/libXplugin.1.dylib, if I remember correctly.

I think I remember one of the Bens saying that there's at least one X11 lib that's installed by default from one of the standard packages.
Sorry for being so vague about that.

That looks like an essential library, so no wonder it won't start.
Installing from the CD might work. Try it, and then look for the library (from the terminal, run "ls /usr/X11R6/lib".

OK, I ran "fink list -i xfree86", and it didn't do much it just said:
"Information about 1133 packages read in 12 seconds."
But then I ran the console while trying to open X11 and this is what is says:
"dyld: /Applications/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11 can't open library: /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)"
Would this be easy to fix? Should I re-install from the CD or would
that even help? I'm not sure what happened, but it started right after
a "fink update-all" so I must of thrown something in there that
conflicted with it.
Thanks for all of your help, I'm new at this and have no diea what I'm
doing.

Run "fink list -i xfree86" and make sure that an XFree86 package didn't get dropped on X11 by mistake--this isn't supposed to happen, though.
Also, try running the Console utility before you start X11 so that you can see what error messages come up.

Hello,
I ran the "fink update-all" command and now it appears X11 won't
launch. I tried restarting, it just does nothing when I click on it.
Apparently I've broken it somehow - possibly installed something
over it? Anyway, I'm new to all of this and don't even really know
where to look. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks,
AM
