The "if: Expression Syntax" message has been the subject of an earlier thread. It turned out that the problem was spaces in the PATH. Here's a link:

whenever i delete the "source /sw/bin/init.csh" line from the .tcshrc file, there are no error messages. apparently there is an error in the init.csh script? also, i read on the site that on panther 10.3, the standard shell should be bash. on my installation, however, it is tcsh...
anyone with a solution to this one?
