First of all don't write you are an Unix ignorant. In this case my
reaction would be why the hell you then want to use fink?

A few post later you have gimp installed and gtk-gnutella. No you
can come to the conclusion, that you have a Mac and want the best
software but won't pay for it. too bad :-( And others should help
you? Not me.

Good for GIMP I personally would give you help, cause it is really
free.

To the GTK Problem I can only say that on my Mac with OS X 10.2.3 I
have a GTK 1.2.10 installed and gimp runs smooth. So maybe you
haven't got the unstable tree in your fink.conf or maybe some
circular depencies could only be solved by installing each package
for its own and not let the package manager try to solve the
depencie problem. I had a few days ago a problem with getting fink
libraries in order to compile another program that isn't avaible
via fink and fink ran into circular depencies but with a few
effords and a bit of thinking I came to the solution that maybe I
should try to install the packages that are listed as depencies on
their own and after installing two packages of their own I
recognized that one depency package needed a depency that wasn't
listed in the original depencies tree there it goes.

Try also to reinstall the X11 and X11 SDK on my iMac these two
packages didn't get installed properly the first time and this
seems to be a little bug by apple since in most cases the first
installation of these two packages messes up. On my G4 I didn't
even install Apple's X11 and instead I installed Xfree's X and up
to now I am happy with it. It could be that a library you need for
building is corrupt and so fink cannot build the latest gtk.

Try also a "fink rebuild gtk" or "fink update gtk" and see what
happens.

And last of all please write no Richt-Text Mails and use
paragraphs. Your mails are hard to read when you are using other
emailsoftware that is not apple mail or Eudora or Entourage.

If you donnot know what I mean read this
<http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html>

If you then still have no clue sell your Mac and buy a Windows PC
there are surely more people you know that can give you a Windows
copy and the programs you need for it and it has no unix but a gimp
is avaibly too and gnutella as much as you like.

You should give an example an be the first to follow this wisdom
next time you write an email to this list here.
