Hi

I've been trying to install pgperl without success.

I copied the following files from the unstable 10.2-gcc3.3 branch over to the local 10.3 branch.

extutils-f77-1.14-4.info
extutils-f77-1.14-4.patch
pgplot-perl-2.18-6.info
pgplot-perl580-2.18-6.info
pgplot-perl580-2.18-6.patch

I installed extutils-f77 without problem.

However when I do sudo fink install pgplot-perl I get the following error:

[hadrian:~] nair% sudo fink install pgplot-perl
Reading package info...
Updating package index... done.
Information about 1260 packages read in 3 seconds.

fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency. The
candidates:

(1) pgplot-perl560: Perl interfaces for the PGPLOT graphics library
(2) pgplot-perl580: Perl interfaces for the PGPLOT graphics library

Pick one: [1] 2
WARNING: While resolving dependency "perl580-core" for package "pgplot-perl580-2.18-6", package "perl580-core" was not found.
Failed: Can't resolve dependency "perl580-core" for package "pgplot-perl580-2.18-6" (no matching packages/versions found)

I picked 2 because I am assuming the 580 is referring to the version of perl.
and Panther comes with perl 5.8.1 . I wasn't sure about it so I tried copying
pgplot-perl560-2.18-5.info
pgplot-perl560-2.18-5.patch
files and running fink install. The error I get in this case is

Setting up dlcompat-dev (20030629-15) ...
/bin/mkdir -p /sw/src/pgplot-perl560-2.18-5
gzip -dc /sw/src/PGPLOT-2.18.tar.gz | /sw/bin/tar -xf -

sh: line 1: perl5.6.0: command not found

Should I be installing pdl560 or 580 ?

Thanks in advance.

It's kind of like what you do for using an unstable package:

http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php#unstable

starting with the section "If you only want one or two specific packages...", except that you copy the .info and .patch files from the 10.2-gcc3.3 tree over to 10.3/local

Hi

I am trying to install pgplot-perl on Panther. Fink does not seem to have any version on the 10.3 branch but it does seem to have it on the 10.2-gcc3.3 unstable branch.
I seem to recall someone trying to install a program present on the 10.2-gcc.3.3 branch on Panther. I just wanted to know if it worked and how you would go about it.
