I've been getting wierdness with the Dock changing to no hiding from auto-hiding and Safari having printing problems and crashes on 10.2 since I enabled unstable.
I'm not positive they are related....
It might be instructive to do a couple of tests:
1. Try commenting out or removing the "source /sw/bin/init.csh" (or whatever the equivalent line is for your shell) and restarting. This will disable all the fink installed stuff. You can confirm this by opening the Terminal, typing "printenv PATH", and confirming the /sw/bin does not show up. Run long enough to see whether the various problems are still there or not. If the problems disappear, then some fink installed software is probably implicated. If the problems are still there, then it isn't fink's fault.
2. If the problems are still present, then you might want to create a new user - System Preferences, Accounts, if I recall correctly from my 10.2 days. Log in as the new user and see if you still have problems. If the problems are still there then you have some sort of OS or hardware problem. Check the disk, backup your documents, reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything.
