<snip>
You don't have the unstable tree turned on--not a problem!I have release 040527-2. FinkCommmander shows 021223-1 as the latest stable version. should I revert to that (and if so, how is this to be done? what is the syntax? something like 'fink install fondu-021223-1'?)?<snip>
You could do just that, or if you want the (working) unstable version, you can update (really downgrade) the package--the current unstable version is 1:030428-1.

sorry to bother again.
fink install fondu-1:030428-1
yields "Failed: no matching version found for fondu".
is the line
Trees: local/main stable/main stable/crypto local/bootstrap unstable/main
in fink.conf not sufficient? at least FinkCommmander lists 040527-2 as the unstable and latest version. have I broken something?
No: probably you need to run "fink selfupdate", particularly if you've been using rsync selfupdating.
