Here a new error message from the console (sorry I am not really
"professional" in Fink - I just realized that there is a new error message)
dyld: /Applications/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11 can't open library:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
dyld: /Applications/XDarwin.app/Contents/MacOS/XDarwin can't open library:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libfreetype.6.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

This definitely looks like you need to reinstall XFree86 (or Xorg--whatever you're using).
