I wanted to remove all tetex archived files, in order to redo a clean install, but I don't know how to eliminate the archived files.
So far I have: tetex, tetex-base and tetex-dev archived.
I'm still hesitating regarding the package I need to install (tetex or tetex-base) but both install fail (this comes from a failed tetex-base install).

Hmmm...you don't have tetex-macosx or tetex-texmf, and you'll want them, too.

Or rather, do you have them?

I wouldn't worry too much about the "archived" files. The error looks not to be with what's installed, but from a post-install latex run.

Also, do you happen to have another tetex installation elsewhere on your system?
