FinkCommander version 0.5.2.....and i see a Fink-installer-0.6.2.dmg in a directory; that must be the version i'm using. I don't see a fink application folder, nor an app per-se --oh, there it is, in /sw. Yes, it is 0.6.2
To be fair, FinkCommander *did ask* if I wanted to upgrade. Since it was working, I chose not to. It hasn't asked me since. Mistake on my part?? I chose the xfree86 at the top of the list in Fink Commander....which happened to BE 4.3....I HAD a lesser version (4.2?) successfully running on the Powerbook I sent off to my son...and it WAS in /sw/src. Until I deleted it in the process, sort of cleaning up (or so I thought). ACTually, xfree86bbase-4.2.1.1-16 folder is STILL in my trash.... Wonder where to go from here....I could just HOSE the entire /sw directory, the x11 v. 4.3 I have installed, reel in from Apple that which you referred to.... OR somehow upgrade Fink//FinkCommander, and just start from scrath. I'm well aware of slippery-slope syndrome. Many thanks for helping me here.
