while running "Fink Commander" 0.51 (v.release), after a recent
reinstall of MAC OS X 10.3.7 (all of Kernel, Xcode, BSD, X11, ...) an
a perhaps futile attempt to "F-C- -> Source -> Self-Update, then
Update-all .. [Fink -v --> Fink 0.23.3, on Titanium Power Book G4, OS
X 10.3.7]
I found an added the fink-mirrors missing dependency, now a half day
with the below "### execution of /sw/bin/fink failed, exit code 5
Failed: compiling dpkg-1.10.21-202 failed"
All the reference and comments to the posts of others were irrelevant
or of NO USE. GOT error code 5 .. failed dpkg ... DO NOT have a
non-stock /usr/bin/HEAD .. All red herrings. PLEASE, tell me what I
need to do this seems to fully HANG use of FinkCommander / Fink ..
Logfile: dpkg_log.txt is attached at bottom ..

Have you installed a non-stock Perl? Those look like the kind of errors
Fink spits out when you've manually updated Perl.
