Chances are that you don't have the unstable tree in Fink enabled. Follow the insturctions here <http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php?phpLang=en#unstable>. If you have Fink Commander, there's a menu option to do this (rather than the manual file editing shown in the URL).
Once unstable is enabled, then firefox can be installed like any other fink package that you are installing from the source code...
The X11 (NOT Linux!) version is handy to have if you need to open up a browser and you're running X11 anyway.
