Hi, I'm trying without any luck so far, to get gnome working on my
iMac
(osx10.4). I've installed gnome-desktop what else do I need to do?

The "normal" way is to install bundle-gnome, but if you don't want to
install everything, try installing each package inside bundle-gnome
one after one in the order listed in bundle-gnome, till it works.

You may skip gnome-terminal, gnome-games, gnome-users-doc, file-
roller, gedit, eog, yelp, zenity, bug-buddy, gpdf, ggv, gucharmap,
nautilus-cd-burner, and dasher, if you really want to have a "tiny"
gnome. Probably also gnome-netstatus, though I'm not sure for that one.

OK, here's the result of that...

Selecting previously deselected package gnome-panel.
Unpacking gnome-panel (from .../gnome-panel_2.6.2-15_darwin- powerpc.deb) ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
/sw/var/cache/apt/archives/gnome-core_2.6.2-13_darwin-powerpc.deb
E: Sub-process /sw/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Any ideas??
No much.
You seem to use very old versions, the latest one on stable for gnome- panel is 2.6.2-25.
Could you try to build from source instead of using binary packages?
