Hi AH!
Thanks! I'm using Apple's X11. I installed the X11SDK.pkg from
Xcode=20
Tools
and until now it seems that this has fixed the my problem with=20
fontconfig!
Now I started apt-get install bundle-gnome, hopefully it will work!
Bye,
Tanja
P.S. I don't have the xorg nor the fontconfig-dev2 package!

Subject: [Fink-beginners] Re: volume does not support symlinks
if you mean the pkg file that has the installer in it, I think the
answer is both.
I downloaded it to the internal (boot) drive, and when that install
didn't work I booted from the external (backup) drive, leaving the
pkg on the internal drive to try to install that way.
so, it refused to install to the drive the pkg was on in both cases.
by the way, I can create symlinks (ln -s) on the disk that the
installer states does not support them.

booting from the backup disk, fink still will not install on

what is going on here? what do I need to do to get fink to

That version of gettext-dev is only available via the unstable source
tree. If I had to guess, I'd assume that you built it on 10.3, and
thereby got put in Fink's binary database, but then when you moved to
10.4 things got confused.
Try
fink --no-use-b install gettext-dev
That should force fink to build it from source.

Subject: [Fink-beginners] Syntax error in upgrade package "expat"
Hi..
I just upgraded to Tiger (10.4.1) and am trying to get my fink
packages upgraded...
I did the following (instructions from homepage for fink)
fink selfupdate
fink scanpackages
sudo apt-get update
which all appeared to go well.
Then I did
fink update-all
and a few packages correctly installed, but then it got to "expat"
during which I got a syntax error
gcc -no-cpp-precomp -I/sw/include -I./lib -I. -g -O2 -Wall -Wmissing-
prototypes -Wstrict-prototypes -fexceptions -DHAVE_EXPAT_CONFIG_H -o
xmlwf/xmlwf.o -c xmlwf/xmlwf.c
xmlwf/xmlwf.c:24: error: parse error before "characterData"
[and lots more snipped]
Anyone with any clues?
Thanks
gordon
