Having given up on my previous attempt to update, I decided to scrub everything and start from scratch...

So I installed the new fink from .dmg and started putting back the things that I used to have on the system.

Please, please specify the OS and Fink version every time you start a new thread--we get so many messages that it's almost impossible to remember what any particular individual has installed.

One of them was the symbolic algebra package Pari  (pari-gp)...

It downloaded and claimed to install OK, but then when I run it, I get

$ gp
Reading GPRC: /sw/etc/gprc ...Done.

Trace/BPT trap

Anyone know what is happening?
