Because KDE is in the unstable distribution tree and fink doesn't normally 
activate that tree. To turn it on, check out:

IMPORTANT NOTE: To use fink's unstable tree you must install all of Xcode. The 
packages in the unstable tree aren't compiled and you'll have to compile them 
yourself (in the case of KDE that means a LONG time--on my 1GHz Powerbook it 
takes about 24 hours). The Xcode installer should be on your disk drive or 
you can download from Apple's developer site (for free).
