Ok Martin, sorry about the slow reply, but i've just come home from
work to try out fink again. For some reason Clamav now worked, but
mplayer, orrery / geomview and grass60 do not.. Here's the last few
lines from each log:

No, only with mplayer. Building clamav fails, too, but with a
different error. What error message do you get from clamav? It is
hard to see how it could be the same
