I think that appp like platypus are the best you can find when you are a beginner (but not only). basically it s a clever app that drive xcode (I think so, after viewing package content).
on my mind is the only way to really use all of the power inside OSX.
I have downloaded platypus and I think it would be even more powerful than it is. just some clicks and I had an app to start "hidden" software on my mac (now I have to understand why it doesn't complete the process, but this is not a related fink topic). I repeat: the time is right "to put on the shelf" a configurable app, able to create as many "starter button" as you need, simply cheking a box; I mean: "Add Software To Start"-->window where you can see the SAME file-directories-bin-etc... you see when running terminal--- >select the file name---->finished process. the next time you start the "starter builder" you see a window containing one more button (the latest you created); click on the button related to the app you like to start and... voilĂ , le jeux sont faits! the "hidden software" start running without more managing. a nice add would be:"create group"-->group's name entry--->finished process. the next time I would see a new tab (in the same window containing the buttons) containing the group of buttons related to a specific group of software.
I would really pay for an app like this!
I hope my english is quite understandable; in the case an interested developer (great people) would be interested, PLEASE, make me know!
