I did indeed install the monopackage. The one from the mono site. So I did the following: In the console I moved to /usr/X11R6/bin/ there I ran a ls- lAF-command. The result is:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1577 15 Sep 2003 freetype-config* If this is a symlink isn't it supposed to show an @-sign instead of a *.
